Hillcrest

I'm so lucky to have the life I do. I never realized how privileged I was to even walk.
Every blue day during fourth period I leave school and I intern at Hillcrest Nursing Home. So far I have spent 5 days there and I have already fallen in love with some of the people that are current residence there. All of the physical therapists and assistance are so nice and welcoming. I feel like I learn alot about this career when I go there. I get hands in experience with the patience. You would be amazed at some of the stories these people can tell you. I can always tell they have lived a full life. I belive that old people are some of the funnest people to hang around. I think they like telling stories just because they have so many. I would love to be able to work with people like this.. If not to get them better but to atleast have someone to care about them.

Different Perspective

It's not what happens to you but how you perceive it that determines how you will deal with the situation.

We change ourself and the world changes around ua. Or better still; change our focus about life and life changes. We can take any bad situation and turn it around. Living life is all about haveing a positive outlook on life. Happiness is key. I have found that being happy is one of the things I stive for the most. This is an easy task as long as I look at situations from every perspective.

A Simple prayer

Take my body Jesus
Eyes, ears and tongue.
Never let them Jesus
Help to do thee wrong.
Take my heart and
Fill it full of love for thee.
All I have I give thee.
I give myself to thee.

My Great Aunt would recite this prayer everytime she recieved communion. She was a simple woman who loved live and all that it offered. I strive to be more like her. She left this world on January 20, 2011 to be reunited with her husband Henry, and her Brother Frank, along with many other family members that have passed. Barbara Ann Thompson will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Compliments

If I could step out of my shoes for a day,

and look on myself in a different way,

I might have a totally new point of view,

discovering things I don’t know about me.

If I could step out of my shoes for a while,

and witness the way that I make people smile,

I'd be quite amazed at what we all see.

I'd let those inadequate feelings go free.

If I could step out of those shoes to relax,

I'd see in myself how an angel reacts.

I might understand how I make people feel.

I'd no longer harbor those fears I conceal.

If I could step out of those shoes and reflect,

it would bring such a wondrous healing effect.

The magic I carry would finally show,

the incredible person I don’t seem to know.

Senior Sweet 16

At the beginning of each school year, a Senior Sweet 16 committee is formed to recognize seniors for their dedication to leadership and achievement. The members of this committee are formed from faculty here at Apollo High School. All AHS teachers are asked to nominate senior students whom they have witnessed outstanding leadership skills, dedication to achievements in academics, clubs, organizations, or athletics. Approximately 40 students are nominated for Senior Sweet Sixteen. Getting called out of class was intense and yet I felt bad for those whose name did not get called. Is it wrong for me to be happy? I hid my feelings the best I could. On the outside I was calm and casual, but on the inside I was jumping and screaming. I could of almost burst I was so excited. On January 21, 2011 during half time of the DC boy's basketball game my name and 15 others will be called. At the end of the year we also get to go to a luncheon. Im not sure why this means so much to me but, I am so over joyed I cant even explain!
YAYY!
